Dupery campaigns, tiers and difficulty: the progression loop

The short answer

Complete cases through the region campaigns, confront each region’s syndicate general, and unlock role and quirk tiers. The official description places the final Syndicate region after unlocking all nine tiers across the regions.

This overview uses official full-game descriptions and developer interviews checked October 14, 2026, before the planned October 15 release. It is not a tier-by-tier retail walkthrough.

Follow the region loop

The full-game description has three campaigns in distinct regions, with different mechanics and role pools. Cases move you toward a confrontation with the region’s syndicate general, where you gain clues. Winning a region unlocks new role and quirk tiers.

The official description supplies this progression order. This diagram does not invent case counts, unlock rosters or boss answers.

The description says to unlock all nine tiers across every region before entering the Syndicate region. Keep that as the published milestone; this guide does not assume a particular per-region allocation or provide an unverified list of every tier reward.

Re-read the rules when the run changes

Between missions, the official description lets you choose roles to add and acquire quirks or modifiers. Those choices can change the next case’s deduction conditions. A previous case’s clean rule about truth or placement is not automatically a rule for the next one.

Before applying a favorite method, check three things: which role set is now possible, which quirks are active, and which timed or alignment-changing effects matter. The useful technique carries over; the exact assumptions may not.

Do not rely on the old three-case selection

In the October 9 developer interview, Luke explains that the original Demo offered three cases with stated difficulty levels. Procedural generation made those labels hard to justify without affecting the game’s design, so that selection was removed in favor of an experience they could tailor more consistently.

If an older guide tells you to pick the easiest of three listed cases, it may be describing that earlier flow. Follow the choices offered in your installed version. “Standardised” here is not a promise that every generated board is equally easy.

Keep mode and difficulty conditions attached

The September 17 announcement distinguishes Demo recovery from higher-difficulty full-game reputation gains. A remembered Demo recovery rule should not be your entire plan for a harder run.

The September 25 interview says the Demo contains the first region. Its three quirk challenge modes are not the full game’s three campaigns. If you are preparing for the wider game, use the Demo to practice reading roles, recording time and testing assumptions; it does not demonstrate every later region’s mechanics.

For an individual case, start with the case-solving workflow. For what is currently included in the Demo, use the dated Demo comparison.
